Best States to Run a Company

Forbes had a really great story today on the best places in the United States to have a business. They ranked all fifty states using the following criteria: "business costs, economic climate, growth prospects, labor, quality of life and regulatory environment."

The result? Virginia was clearly #1. Texas was #2, and unfortunately, Mississippi and Louisiana came in near the bottom. The article did state that Katrina had a lot to do with their decision, but in a way, this may hurt the states who are trying to attract new businesses and get old businesses to return.

Nevertheless, it's an interesting read and one that really makes you think about how your home state handles business. Check out their pictures for a graphical view of how your state performed.
