Speaking of Travel...

In an earlier post today I mentioned how travel delays are hitting some businesses hard - well, all except Groople, who was able to land $6 million in funding. Red Herring had a write-up on them that went into more detail on their future plans.

From the article:

ArrowPath Venture Partners and FA Technology Ventures led the round Thursday, Groople’s third and largest. Groople focuses on easing travel-based transactions for groups by providing one-stop shopping for hotel bookings, airfare, and other forms of transportation.

While some of the cash from the round is earmarked for marketing to leisure and business customers, the Denver-based company mainly plans to use the money to overcome its larger hurdle to success.

“It’s really the technology right now,” said CEO Mike Stacy. “If we do this well, and we create a great customer experience, the customers are going to find us. There’s no question about that.”

Groople simplifies the picture by using back-end automation to turn travel booking into a digitalized experience.

This is what I mean - present a problem to solve, and sooner or later, someone will figure it out. Groople seems to be doing just that.
