Interesting move for Time Warner Cable

RedHerring had an interesting story today on some plans that Time Warner Cable has to make their company more attractive to consumers. Users will soon be able to use, "Road Runner PhotoShow Deluxe, that lets users add animation, captions, and music to photos and video." Ok... Well, this may be nice for people who don't have computers.

This is a feature that I think naturally techy people will be able to use, but I worry about frustration levels with users who aren't accustomed to using their television to display their photos, add animations, etc...

But here's an interesting quote from the article:

“When you read about what’s going on with the Internet, there is a lot of user-generated content that’s out there. What we do is we bring it to life on the big screen in your living room,” said Bob Benya, senior vice president of Time Warner Cable video on demand (VOD).

Ummm - does this mean they have plans to create some sort of sharing environment here?

It's a nice idea, but in my opinion, it's just virtuosity and a bald attempt at creating some buzz. For crying out loud, you can get a picture frame that will do all that this can do, and it's a lot easier to use. Back to the drawing board, guy!
