Advertising Your Business - Old School

When was the last time you used the Yellow Pages to reach out and touch your customers? Even with all of the advances, it is still a tried and true way to attract business. TechCrunch has a great write-up today on some plans that Yahoo has to improve their local and online Yellow Pages, which is a great way to combine old school methods with new technology.

Basically, besides the listing process, you can place ads within the listings to ensure that your business will retain a good position, much like the old yellow pages technique of placing a large ad on the same page as your competitors.

Yahoo definitely gets some points for merging these two methods and this should help a lot of businesses get more exposure.

A brighter way to promote your business

And no, I don't mean bright as in smart - bright as in half-blinding your potential customers. Visioneered Image Systems is working on a new sign that will more than double the brightness of LED signs. "Because we can be twice as bright as daylight, we don't have to run a sign all the time at 14,000 nits," Tony Materna of VIS explained. "In fact, most of the time we can run them at 6,500 nits, which is like loafing for them.

In case you're wondering, brightness can be measured on the scale of nits. Whatever those may be...

Back on track, VIS may have a solution to outdoor signage that will help businesses get more for their advertising dollar. If anyone is still advertising with LED signs that is.
