Understanding Your Market

As more and more companies begin to rely on the Internet as their sole source of news, too many are forgetting that good old fashioned print media is still viable. As business owners, it is vital to stay on top of industry trends, to know what is going on and what to look out for. In a way this has created a cycle of having to know instantly what is going on - leaving magazines and newspapers in the dust.

I really recommend subscribing to at least one magazine for your industry. Sure, it may not be updated every day, but it can still contain information that you may not find anywhere else. For example, companies in the automotive industry can really benefit from subscribing to Car and Driver, where they can get ideas for advertising, new information on what their competitors are doing, and still stay in touch with an audience that may not be using the Internet as much as company execs are.

That may be the key point as to why it is so important not to lose touch with the print medium. If your key audience is still using this medium as their primary source of information, you could be missing out on a great way to reach out to them if you focus solely on the Internet.
